The Girl He Used to Know
By Tracey Garvis Graves
I give this book five out of five birds but can’t in good conscious recommend it. If you read it, you didn’t get it from me! There were three or four very over-sexualized scenes that were more like 50 Shades then a light Fiction book- You could probably skip chapter 18- unless your super into this stuff then go for it.
With that aside, I LOVED THE STORYLINE. I absolutely adored Annika and her anxious behavior and her gradual growth. It was eye opening to see how someone who struggles with social anxiety this severely develop a romantic relationship and the struggles that go with it. I admired Jonathan and his patience and pure adoration for Annika. I found it to be a wonderful love story unlike other ones I’ve read.
I also found the timeline to be intriguing – coinciding with 9/11. I was very young when it happened, but I remember it clearly. This story brought some of those sad feelings back.
So I totally recommend this… but also don’t…. I wish Tracey would have left the raunchy stuff- it would have broadened her audience!
