The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley gets all five 🐤🐦🐤🐦🐤 from me! I will start with this. I usually do not enjoy historical fiction at all… but this one had me hooked from the beginning. I became so invested in the two kids and their adventure. I loved watching Ada grow and recognize that her past was hard but she could move on. I admired Susan’s (their wartime caretaker) patience and her unknown ability to love. I also describing Ada’s life and her foot to my husband because he is a podiatrist and a horse fanatic! Overall, this book is for everyone. Do me a favor and buy it on thriftbooks (where I got mine) or get on the waiting list at the library!
