My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Stiles Gannett
I give this book 4 out of 5 birds! I read this one with my four year old and 2.5 year old girls. The cover is fantastic and I adored the art throughout the book. I felt like some of the language was hard to understand- mostly relating to the main character- it kept confusing both of them. They loved all of the candy mentioned and how the animals ate it. I felt like it was clever and innocent and definitely a great starter read. I think children who are more into the outdoors, animals, and more masculine archetypes would enjoy it.
I will say as an adult, I could visualize all of the scenes and I laughed out loud on a few. I can just picture tigers chewing bubble gum. I’m hoping to read the next one some day!
