I’ll give Shannon Hale 4 out of 5 birds for The Princess in Black #1. Since the libraries are currently closed and we’re dying for new reading material I purchased the first three of this series. My girls are enjoying them but not as much as I expected. I think they like Mercy Watson better. We made it through this one and it was cute and I liked the art and the fact she could have the best of both worlds. Princess and superhero. I felt like it was TOO simple. Which, okay, I get its for kids… But I felt it was just a little flat. We’ve started the second one and I’m excited to see how it plays out. Overall, it’s an enjoyable read.
